Derrick Osei Kuffuor Prempeh has really stepped up into the Ghana Music scene and doesn’t look to be slowing down in any way. The Budding rapper, known popularly as Kofi Jamar, mentioned in an interview that he is the revolutionary of the Ghana music industry’s development and The Untouchable DJ, DJ Mensah, thinks that is nothing short of the truth.

Speaking in an interview with the Blackstar DJs worldwide, DJ Mensah was asked to mention who his favourite artist in the country was. After picking out the obvious one, Sarkodie, he stated without mincing words that the next superstar he sees for Ghana is indeed Kofi Jamar. 

We can’t really argue with DJ Mensah over his choice after seeing the works and kind of music from the young man. At least we all agree his song ‘Ekorso’ is still a jam. Hence, we really, in unison with the Untouchable DJ think Kofi Jamar can undoubtedly be the next star for Ghana.

Michael Owusu Addo known as Sarkodie has been nominated in the 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards edition. The awards show will be held on 20th February 2021 at the Pearl of Africa in Kampala, Uganda. Most nominees for this award category were nominated based on votes by local radio stations and social media. Thus, the nominees were chosen because they had the majority of votes from their various African countries which saw the Ghanaian superstar, Sarkodie, being nominated.

“The MAMA is all about bringing the music to the people and celebrating the best Africa has to offer and uniting us through African youth culture”, Monde Twala, senior vice president and general manager at ViacomCBS Networks Africa(VCNA). “The Listeners’ choice Award embodies this philosophy, as it ensures that the voices of music lovers across the diverse countries on the continent are recognised”, He added.

The winner of the award will be announced at the MTV Africa awards Kampala 2021 which will be hosted virtually in partnership with Uganda, the pearl of Africa, on 20th February 2021 at 20:00 WAT/ 21:00 CAT/ 22:00 EAT.

Michael Mensah Ayenu, popularly known as DJ Mensah, in an interview with the Blackstar DJs worldwide, narrated a beautiful story of how he met the Highest Rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, who is also known worldwide as Sarkodie.

The two Michaels met as a result of Sarkodie’s DJ disappointing him which left him with no particular choice but to fall on DJ Mensah for his performance at a December 2 remember concert at the conference centre in Accra.

According to DJ Mensah, he was panicking even before the concert because he had not even rehearsed in any way with Sarkodie and they actually met just a few minutes before the performance. But according to the Untouchable DJ Mensah, the show still turned out flawless. They just bonded right after the performance and the rest is history.

“Sarkodie just got too comfortable with me…when I blink, he knows, when I raise my hand, he knows. There are so many times we’ve messed up on shows but no one ever realised.” DJ Mensah narrated. It is indeed a beautiful story knowing the kind of chemistry that exists between the artist and the DJ goes beyond entertainment. We can’t see them getting split anytime soon and that is all we hope for.

A 25-year-old passenger who was allegedly raped at gunpoint by a taxi driver and a conductor in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa on Monday, said she was scared to reveal she is HIV-positive.

 
The woman‚ who was dumped in a cane field after the ordeal‚ told Reaction Unit SA (Rusa) security officers on Monday, she wanted to let her attackers know about her status but was afraid they would shoot her. 

Rusa spokesperson Prem Balram said they were called by a passing motorist just after 3pm after the driver was flagged down by the victim on the northbound lane of the N2 near Sibaya Casino.

“Reaction officers and medics were dispatched to the scene. On arrival they located the hysterical female seated in the emergency lane. She told a female reaction officer she operates a stall in Durban‚” he said.

Balram said she boarded a taxi to visit her boyfriend.

“As they left Durban she asked the two why there were no other passengers in the minibus‚” he said.

The conductor put a cloth over her face and instructed her to be silent.

“She was driven to a cane field where both men took turns raping her at gunpoint. They then drove off and left her in the field‚” he said.

Police spokesperson Capt Nqobile Gwala said a case of rape was opened at Verulam police station.

“It is alleged by the complainant that [on Monday] at 2.30pm she stopped a taxi near the Moses Mabhida Stadium as she was going to KwaDukuza. While the taxi was on the N2 Sibaya turn off‚ the conductor covered her mouth while [the driver] pointed a firearm at her. The victim was then raped by the suspects before they left her on the side of the road‚” she said.
